information panel

Leaving Cwmtwrch and passing an old mine entrance

Nant Gwys

A gentle climb through the woods

Track passes Brynhenllys Fishery

There were only a few flooded areas of track

Looking back;
Mynydd Marchywel behind the ladies

wet sections

We had warning of the next cloudburst -approaching from behind us!

After a torrential shower, we had our coffee stop in sunshine and dried out again

Bog!

towards Pen y Wern

Dorwen standing stone on the horizon

Dorwen Standing Stone

Looking further up along the Cwm Twrch valley

Pen-y-wern farm ruins - the NCB bought the farm from its last owners when the first open cast mining of the area cut off all access to the property

Lunchtime at the farm, with delicious Damsons from the old orchard

Leaving the farm, it wasn't as bad as it looked crossing this field

A particularly awkward stile

Afon Twrch

We were following the old miner's track alongside the river

Out in the open again

A pair of Common Blue Damselflies

Common Darter Dragonfly (probably)
